According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provisional data, the total fertility rate, the average number of children a woman is expected to have in her lifetime, dropped to 1.62 births per woman in 2023, a two percent decline from 2022. This marks the lowest rate since the federal government began tracking fertility data in the 1930s, falling well below the replacement-level rate of 2.1 births needed to sustain the population.
The U.S. fertility rate peaked during the post-World War II baby boom, exceeding three births per woman, before steadily declining in the 1960s and 1970s. The more children they had out of wedlock, the more money they received. The destruction of poor families was done quite intentionally by the US government, under the name ‘social justice.'”
Many also insist that any “baby bonus” should be restricted to married couples or those who can financially and morally support children. “Incentives without responsibility worsen the problem,” one user tweeted. Another argued, “Only people who’ve never relied on government assistance should qualify.”
Some suggest that broader economic reforms, not welfare-style incentives, are the real solution. “No. Adopt policies that boost the value of the dollar and lower the cost of living, and you’ll get that baby boom. This ‘baby bonus’ was tried before with unmarried welfare mothers, and all we got was more unmarried welfare mothers and more children locked in the poverty cycle,” one said.

Encouraging growing families needs more culture changes than money.
1) End or modify no-fault divorce. Not even in business can one party unilaterally break a contract.
2) Present more cost effective deliveries (hospital bills alone are daunting) and offer a baby’s-first-two years assistance program for low income brackets to help with formula, clothes, and diapers.
3) Deal with the cost of education and training. Educating a child has become near impossible for normal families.
4) Promote remote work so that, as much as possible, one parent can remain at home
5) Offer modified work week options (32-35 hours a week and flex time) for parents with pre high school children. Lower salaries for reduced week, of course, but keep healthcare benefits. Few families can make it on one income, but most could make it on at least one salary being reduced by 20-25%.
6) Encourage and help moms to stay home and bond with their babies at least the first year. This is critical for the child’s sense of security and mental health.
7). Encourage home school co-ops of up to 8 kids where a group of parents can each take one day a week to educate them all. Homeschool is far less stressful than worrying about the porn in a child’s library or some pervert destroying your child.
