Watch Maria Bartiromo’s Face as Trump Tells Her Gas Prices Might Go ‘A Little Bit Higher’

DCNF(DCNF)—“Sunday Morning Futures” host Maria Bartiromo appeared stunned Sunday when President Donald Trump said gas prices might increase.

Trump announced a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz in a Sunday morning Truth Social post, hours after Vice President JD Vance told reporters the diplomatic talks with Iran in Pakistan had stalled. During their interview, Bartiromo asked the president if oil and gas prices would drop.

“Well, it’s going to be eventually— it’s going to be lowered. No, it might not happen initially, but it’s going to go down when this is all over,” Trump said. “Look, the stock market — the Dow — hit 50,000. It was supposed to be in four or five years; they said it won’t happen during this term, but it’ll be maybe four or five years. It hit 50,000 in my first year. You know it better than anybody, you cover it better than anybody. The S&P hit 7,000 in my first year, before my first year, you know that, and I said to myself, ‘Oh, here we go.’”

“I got to stop this country from having a nuclear weapon. You want to see a stock market go down? Let a couple of nuclear bombs be dropped on us, or frankly anyplace else,” Trump continued. “And then you’ll see a stock market that goes down. So the stock market has not gone down very much at all — gone down a little bit, much less than I thought and, frankly, the gas hasn’t gone up as much as I thought. But, regardless, even if it did, we have to stop this group of people from having— and, again, it was worse because Khomeini was a total, you know, radical, I’ll be nice, maniac, he was a maniac — and you can’t let them have a nuclear weapon.”

Oil prices climbed since Operation Epic Fury began, with WTI Futures Crude Oil closing Friday at $96.57, up over $30 from the market’s $67.02 close on Feb. 27, the day before the conflict with Iran started, according to Investing.com.

Bartiromo then pressed Trump, asking if he believed the price would drop before the November midterm elections.

“I hope so. I mean, I think so, it could be. It could be the same, or maybe a little bit higher, but it should be around the same,” Trump said as Bartiromo’s face registered his comments, nodding slightly and appearing to be shocked.

“I think this won’t be that much longer. They’re wiped out,” Trump continued. “They’re wiped out, and you don’t get a fair shake. You don’t get, you know— we need a free and fair press in this country, and I don’t even know why people would do that, why would they say how wonderful they’re doing militarily, they’re doing so well. They’re totally— the country is wiped out.”

Iran declared Thursday it would allow passage of 12 ships per day that pay a toll in either Chinese yuan or cryptocurrency, announcing it had laid mines but admitting to not knowing exact locations. Trump said U.S. Navy vessels would then be working to clear the Iranian mines.
