Elon Musk Nails It: “Just Stop Caring Whether They Call You Racist or Not”

In a pointed response to a viral video criticizing Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Elon Musk urged people to disregard accusations of racism when addressing fraud, emphasizing that “fraud is fraud” regardless of race.

The exchange began with a post quoting conservative commentator Nick Shirley, who accused Walz of overlooking alleged Somali community fraud in Minnesota to secure votes. Shirley claimed entire apartment complexes had been “taken over” by Somalis, displacing white residents, and suggested Walz enabled this for political gain.

Musk, quoting the video, wrote: “Just stop caring whether they call you racist or not. They do that to scare away inquiries. Doing so used to work, but not any more. Fraud is fraud and it doesn’t matter what race someone is.”

The post quickly garnered significant engagement, with thousands of likes, reposts, and replies echoing Musk’s sentiment. Many supporters agreed that labeling critics as racist serves as a “deflection tactic” to avoid scrutiny of facts.

This isn’t the first time Musk has weighed in on cultural and political debates involving race and free speech. As the owner of X and CEO of xAI, Musk has positioned himself as a defender of open discourse, often criticizing what he sees as overly sensitive or manipulative uses of social justice rhetoric.

The original video highlighted tensions in Minnesota, a state with a large Somali immigrant population. Critics like Shirley argue that fraud in social services or housing has been ignored due to fears of racism accusations. Walz and supporters have previously pushed back against such claims, framing them as xenophobic.

Musk’s intervention underscores a broader shift in online discourse, where figures like him argue that fear of being labeled racist no longer silences legitimate questions. Replies to his post included memes, agreements like “Amen to that,” and calls for focusing on facts over identity politics.

While the post sparked polarized reactions – with some praising Musk for “speaking truth” and others accusing him of downplaying systemic issues – it reflects ongoing debates about immigration, fraud, and free speech in America.

As 2025 closes, Musk’s influence on these conversations continues to grow, amplified by his platform and high-profile status. It’s imperative that “influencers” of his stature continue to speak out. The left is going to gaslight. It’s up to us to reveal the truth.
